    An event with a purpose

We’re raising funds and awareness to support the prevention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth suicide.

The most recent figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics confirm that suicide has remained the leading cause of death for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children between the ages of 5 and 17.

After losing his cousin at the age of 17 to suicide, Sydney Roosters player Connor Watson established Cultural Choice Association Inc (CCAI) to raise funds and awareness of this issue and run programs to assist in its prevention.

Through education, employment and well-being initiatives CCAI aim to provide Indigenous children and young adults the opportunity to believe in a future without limitation.

In partnership with selected NRL clubs, CCAI’s Boots for Brighter Futures provides young people with an opportunity to connect with their culture and identity through art by painting boots specifically for players to wear in the NRL’s Indigenous Round.
